A home is most likely the biggest purchase you will make in your life. When it’s time to re-sell that huge investment, you will want an absolute pro on your side. What qualifies a real estate pro? Look for these four signs that you’re working with a great agent.
Experience. Of course it’s nice to put your faith in the bright and shiny young agent, but it’s good to remember that with age (of years in the industry) comes experience. Longevity means experience, experience means education, and education leads to expertise.
Strategy. Before you decide on an agent, find out their plan for maximum exposure for your home? A good agent knows the value of good photography, well-promoted open houses, and even what it takes to advertise on the digital side of things. Make sure the agent you choose has a specific marketing plan for your house that isn’t limited to “Uh, a couple open house, I guess?”
Roots. When it comes between a top agent who isn’t as familiar with your area versus a little lower level of agent but that knows your neighborhood like their own–go with the one who knows the domain. An agent with some form of roots in your area brings a level of experience and knowledge for potential home buyers that cannot be replaced.
Teaching. Do you feel comfortable asking your agents each and every question you have about the home buying process or do you keep mum out of fear of sounding stupid? The right agent takes the time to answer your questions however big or small. The right agent works with you to make sure you understand the whole process and are comfortable with every step along the way.
